Members of the Society are obliged to adhere to the Code of Professional Conduct.

Item 5 of the Code of Professional Conduct requires that Members remain technically competent and keep abreast of developments in specified areas of professional expertise. This is to ensure that Members maintain a high standard of professional practice and so protect the interests of their clients and the Society.

Members must comply with the rules of the Society's Continuing Professional Development Scheme. This scheme is intended to be flexible to Members' circumstances, via self-certification and random audit and sets out a minimum required thirty five hours of CPD per year, of which 15 hours must be structured training.
